Location: Indianapolis, IN

Governor Mike Pence greeted President Barack Obama upon his arrival in Evansville today and the two spent five minutes discussing Indiana's efforts to expand the Healthy Indiana Plan to cover 350,000 uninsured Hoosiers. It was a brief, candid and substantive discussion about Indiana's efforts to expand the Healthy Indiana Plan.

"We have ruled out expanding traditional Medicaid, but as I reiterated to the President today, if we have the opportunity to build on the Healthy Indiana Plan to expand coverage the Indiana way, we're open to doing that," said Governor Pence. "We talked through a number of issues that have arisen in the course of our discussions, and I appreciated the opportunity to call the matter to his personal attention."

The Governor raised all the points he addressed in the letter he sent to the President yesterday.

Following his meeting with the President, Governor Pence spoke with the media about his conversation.
